NEW YORK, April 13 -- Microheat, Inc., a Tier One supplier to the automotive industry, has won the 2007 World Traffic Safety Achievement Award for the Supplier category. Microheat manufactures HotShot(R), the patented hot fluid windshield de-icing system.

The award was presented today at the New York International Auto Show to Gary Pilibosian, president and CEO of Microheat. Founded in 1990, the World Traffic Safety Symposium was formed to address the growing concern of traffic injuries and fatalities on roadways. The Symposium is dedicated to bringing auto manufacturers, public and private organizations, and the media together to share information and discuss innovative ways to make automobile travel safer.

Each year, the group gathers research and data from around the globe to create a presentation of the most interesting and innovative advancements in traffic safety. Industry experts, journalists, and manufacturers are invited to attend this showcase of the most cutting edge, life-saving safety features available in vehicles today.

"We are honored to receive this prestigious award recognizing innovations in safety," said Gary Pilibosian, Microheat president and CEO. "HotShot(R) ensures optimal visibility for drivers in all seasons, weather and driving conditions. Microheat is committed to driving safety and we look forward to continuing to provide drivers with better visibility and safer driving conditions."

Poor visibility is a major cause of traffic accidents and fatalities in the U.S. -- and a contributing factor in nearly 1,500 deaths in 2005, according to the Insurance Information Institute. Introduced commercially in 2002, HotShot(R) is a major breakthrough in windshield clearing technology, solving a problem that has stumped the automotive industry for 75 years -- removing ice, snow and grime from windshields without manual scraping.

HotShot(R) is currently featured in a variety of General Motors vehicles including the Cadillac DTS and Escalade, Buick Lucerne, GMC Sierra and Yukon, and Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban and Avalanche. In addition, several other OEMs throughout the world are in various stages of testing the product.

HotShot(R) features a patented cycling technology that intelligently heats fluid to an exact temperature and sprays the fluid at precise time intervals to quickly and efficiently remove snow, ice, bugs and road grime from windshields. The all-season, all-weather system can be activated at vehicle start-up and maintains hot fluid for use by drivers on demand while driving.

HotShot(R) has been the recipient of numerous awards including: finalist in Automotive News' 2006 PACE Awards, celebrating product and process innovations; Frost & Sullivan's 2005 Excellence in Emerging Technologies Best Practices Award; and Popular Mechanics deemed it the "Outstanding Achievement in New Product Design and Innovation." In 2004, RoadStar Magazine and Newport Publications honored Microheat as well.
