BERKSHIRE, England - March 12, 2007: In its annual poll, nearly a quarter of MSN's website readers voted the sleek new coupé Car of the Year 2007, placing it ahead of supercar rivals such as the Ferrari 599 GTB and the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640.

The online poll conducted on MSN Cars saw the BMW 3 Series Coupé drive into poll position with 23 per cent of the votes – nearly double that of the second placed car. Readers rated the 3 Series Coupé above the Ferrari 599GTB because of its looks, drivability and its unbeatable brand-image.

Tom Evans, manager of MSN Cars, said: “After two years where the winners were the brilliant but somewhat inaccessible Aston Martin DB9 and Bugatti Veyron, it’s great that our users chose the BMW 3 Series Coupé – a car that many may end up driving sooner or later. It’s a cracking looking car, and great to drive too, making it a worthy winner.”

News of the award comes as the BMW 335i has been shortlisted for the title of 2007 World Performance Car and the BMW Hydrogen 7 for the title of 2007 World Green Car. Both models have made the cut from an initial entry list of 28 vehicles to a shortlist of three vehicles per category. The brace of BMWs have been chosen and voted on by an international jury comprising 44 of the world’s leading automotive journalists from 22 countries. The results of the 2007 World Car of the Year awards will be announced at the New York International Auto Show on 5 April, 2007.
