Tokyo, Japan, Feb. 27, 2007; Mazda Motor Corporation's production and sales results for January 2007 are summarized below. I. This increase was mainly due to the added production of CX-7 and CX-9 models and increased production of the Mazda3. On a country basis, production of Mazda vehicles in China reached 12,344 units, up 36.2% over January 2006, due to increased Mazda3 production. --Overseas production of key models in January 2007-- Mazda3: 2,324 units (up 188.0% year-on-year) BT-50: 6,086 units (up 34.8% year-on-year) II. Sales volumes of the Mazda2 and commercial vehicles were lower than the same month last year, but sales of the Mazda5 and Mazda3 were brisk and exceeded last year's results. Mazda's registered vehicle market share was 7.0%, up 0.1 points over January 2006, with a 3.5% market share of the micro-mini segment (down 0.3 points) and a 5.7% total market share, down 0.1 points over the same month last year. --Domestic sales of key models in January 2007-- Mazda2: 4,571 units (down 12.3% year-on-year) Mazda5: 2,198 units (up 21.2% year-on-year) Mazda3: 2,101 units (up 10.1% year-on-year) CX-7: 805 units (no year-on-year comparison available) III. The gains were led by the added production of CX-7 and CX-9 models and increased production of the Mazda3. Exports were at their highest level in 14 years in January 2007.
