Smart Energy Secures Army Stryker Tests

POMPTON PLAINS, N.J., Jan. 29, 2007 -- Smart Energy Solutions, Inc., (BULLETIN BOARD: SMGY) , inventor and manufacturer of Battery Brain(TM), an innovative electronic auto power accessory, announced today that the U.S. Army's Stryker team in Warren, MI, has entered into a one year test and evaluation of the new Battery Brain(TM) systems beginning immediately.

During 2007, SMGY will be supporting the Army's evaluation of the Stryker Family of Vehicles. The contract will allow the government to evaluate Battery Brain(TM) technology which supports operational assurance of vehicle performance in both field and administrative environments, according to Jeff Benton, Director of Government Sales and Marketing for Battery Brain(TM). The Stryker family of vehicles has over 1900 vehicles in its fleet.

"Having a "first start" capability 100 percent of the time is imperative for our war fighters, we're confident our technology will demonstrate a marked level of operational readiness and performance on Strykers which will enable us to help the Army cascade the technology to additional combat tactical vehicle platforms," Benton said.

This contract, which will be managed by the Stryker team at the U.S. Army's Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) headquarters in Warren, MI, will afford SMGY the ability to prevent the Army's current batteries from losing their starting power when systems discharge below the required 18 Volts DC. Additionally, the unit will be evaluated to determine if it can survive in the Stryker environment on a continual basis.

Pete Mateja, CEO of Smart Energy Solutions, Inc., said "Our Smart Energy Solutions for these military applications are just the first step in providing the necessary battery power for combat and administrative support vehicles, along with stationary applications where power demand is critical to keep units functioning effectively. We see our Battery Brain(TM) advanced technology product as the right solution for the nation's military fleets and look forward to their application on multiple vehicle and technology platforms including unmanned guided vehicles. If Stryker achieves the positive testing outcomes that we believe are attainable, the sales potential for us is tremendous."

Battery Brain(TM) is Smart Energy's flagship device that constantly monitors the electrical discharge of the battery for nearly all kinds of vehicles including RVs, boats, autos, trucks, vans, commercial vehicles and personal watercraft. Should Battery Brain(TM) detect that the battery is losing sufficient charge to start the vehicle's engine the device automatically disconnects the battery to preserve its starting power. In addition, Battery Brain(TM) offers a built-in anti-theft feature.
