Washington DC January 24, 2007; The AIADA newsletter reported that Toyota, maker of the Camry, the best-selling car in the United States for eight of the past nine years, may be taking note of the cautionary tale set by the now obsolete Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Like the Cutlass, the Camry, known for dependability and comfort, may be in danger of outdating itself. According to MSNBC, the average age of buyers of the popular care has risen one year with each passing year.

Some auto analysts attribute the Camry's aging demographic to the powerful connection it made with the baby boomer generation.

Toyota is adamant that it will still be able to appeal to the Generation X and Y demographics — generally speaking, those born after 1965 — through its lower priced scion brand. New versions of the Scion will be revealed during next month's Chicago Auto Show.
