ATLANTA, Jan. 10 -- Subaru of America, Inc. exceeded the 200,000-unit milestone for 2006 sales and achieved its fourth consecutive sales record, selling a total of 200,703 units for the year. Subaru South Central Region, headquartered in Atlanta, was a major contributor to this success by setting its own December and year-end records.

The Subaru South Central Region sold 2,097 units for the month of December 2006, up eight percent from the same period last year. Total sales in 2006 for the region were 20,500 units, a gain of four percent over the previous year's total.

"It was a record year for Subaru, and we'd like to thank our South Central Region dealers for helping us to achieve our sales milestone this year," said Rick Blanken, regional vice president, Subaru South Central Region, Subaru of America, Inc. "With their help, Subaru is attracting new customers at record rates to the industry-leading active and passive safety, strong fuel economy, exhilarating driving performance and go-anywhere capability that only Subaru can deliver."

Strong sales of the Impreza and Forester models led the way for the region's record sales and Prestige Subaru in Asheville, North Carolina was the number one dealer in sales volume for the year in the Subaru South Central Region.
