Edged-out in Los Angeles
The 2006 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, which ran through Halloween, had a very special advanced treat for the industry only show-goers that ventured onto the Ford Wheelstand. The tricked-out Ford Edge, the latest offering from 3dCarbon, captures the essence of “California Crossover Series”. Over one million anxious consumers attending the Los Angles Auto Show this December have their opportunity to see the exciting, bold crossover in the flesh for the very first time. The 3dCarbon modified Edge is a prominent display in the highest attended consumer auto show in the country. Ford thinks enough of this effort to have this as the only modified Edge in their show stand.
Resting adjacent to two other unchanged Ford Edges at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the alterations are readily apparent, and the additions represent just how these appearance pieces bring out the best of the recent Ford foray into the crossover segment. The 2007 Edge is transformed into a bolder, stylish design that accentuates the virtues of the base vehicle. The eight-piece body kit takes the Edge from a clean, contemporary crossover and adds an extra dose of flash, without resorting to over the top exaggerations in styling. The end result after months of design and fabrication is a cohesive, well thought through model. Countless hours spent on enhancing and complementing the original design, and not attempting to completely overhaul Ford’s effort, are paying off big dividends.
The eight-piece kit from 3dCarbon is one of the company’s most all-encompassing packages. The well-integrated pieces include a clean looking, subtle front air dam. Door caps all around flow down to the side skirts, which look design studio fresh, and visually lower the overall appearance of the crossover. The rear lower skirt provides an additional distinction by framing the round exhaust pipes with a raised lip formed into the skirt itself.
This particular project car was finished off with a dazzling paint job using DuPont paint in the new Ford Color “Blazing Copper”. Another unique touch that has been adapted in other 3dCarbon projects is the front fender vents with mesh grilles. All of the 3dCarbon products require professional installation.
The completely street legal adaptation of the Edge by 3dCarbon include a number of the most requested enhancements that consumers look for. Their latest project car, a 2007 Ford Edge with all-wheel drive, includes the factory 3.5-liter V-6, a 6-speed automatic transmission, and a Panoramic Vista Roof™. The exhaust system benefits from Magnaflow stainless steel exhaust tips. Firming up the suspension and reducing overly abundant ground clearance is the Eibach Springs Pro Kit 2” suspension drop. Dramatically filling the wheel well are a set of NC Forged Custom 3-piece, NC 5 - 22” wheels w/floating center caps. Wrapping the wheels is a set of massive Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico tires 285/30/22”. Interior trim is decked out with a Katzkin full leather interior. Invision Industries provides the in-car entertainment via Revolution 2 DVD headrest monitors, another Ford Official Licensed Product. A medium smoked tint finishes off the project.
Kudos on the latest 3dCarbon project are coming in from both the industry and consumers alike. In particular, Ford Motor Company is paying tribute to the 3dCarbon Edge bestowing upon the Orange County firm Ford’s Special Achievement Design Award.
