Lexus Readies an F Series to Compete with M-B, BMW Models

Washington DC December 4, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that Lexus is gearing up to compete with Mercedes' AMG and BMW's M lines when it debuts its new IS-F series at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

Auto Week reports that the sedan has a "retuned version of the LS 600h L hybrid's engine" and will be available in December 2007 with a sticker price in the low $50,000 range.

In talking to one dealer, Lexus will likely apply the –F name to other high-performance Lexus vehicles, and a GS-F sedan and IS-F coupe could follow.
