Saab AlcoKey Helps Drivers Stay Clear of Drinking and Driving - VIDEO ENHANCED STORY

STOCKHOLM - November 3, 2006: The Saab AlcoKey project, supported by the Swedish National Road Administration, aims at increasing safety on the roads by reducing accidents linked to alcohol, involving 29 per cent of driver fatalities in Sweden in 2005. The car's key, fitted with a mouthpiece and a breathalyser, sends a signal to the car's electronic control unit via a radio transmitter that will immobilise the engine if a driver's breath sample is found to contain alcohol above the permitted level. Saab AlcoKey already meets an increasing demand in Sweden among car fleet operators and public service providers.
