It's Time To Get Retrofit: Mercedes Accessories Introduces StreetPilot II Navigation Systems

It's happened to the best of us: you're on your way to a business meeting, lunch, date, etc. when, despite Google Mapping directions in advance, you realize that somewhere along the way you made a navigational error. Maybe you missed the street; maybe you turned left when you should have turned right... whatever the case is, you've lost your way.

Now, thanks to Mercedes Accessories GmbH, finding yourself in this unpleasant scenario will soon be a thing of the past. The company has just introduced two new mobile navigation units available for retrofit: the Mercedes-Benz StreetPilot II and the Mercedes-Benz StreetPilot II Plus.

Targeted primarily at A-Class, B-Class and C-Class owners, both units offer ergonomic on-board integration, clear voice output and a high- resolution TFT color touchscreen monitor. Even more impressive, both navigation systems are available with special mounts that allow the StreetPilot II to be attached directly to your model's dashboard, and in addition, integrate the units into your car's electronics. As a result, power is drawn from your vehicle ensuring the navigation system is always readily available, and the navigation's voice is heard through the car's speaker system, which means there's no chance of the car stereo overpowering the directions of your digital navigator.

Although there's no word yet as to the U.S. availability of the StreetPilot II or StreetPilot II Plus, the units will be available in Europe starting in November with prices of EUR 517 and EUR 690, respectively.
