New Exhaust Systems Technologies For Both Diesel Engines - Forecasts To 2012'

DUBLIN, Ireland--Sept. 21, 2006--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c42403) has announced the addition of Global Market Review of Exhaust Systems - Forecasts to 2012 to their offering.

"The main forces driving the automotive exhaust systems industry are the emission and fuel economy targets," said Mauro Occhetti, Marketing and Sales Director, Magneti Marelli Exhaust Systems. "Exhaust suppliers are requested to support the carmakers to reach these targets and assure comfortable noise attenuation without over-design in order to guarantee a low system cost."

Technical developments in the hot-end are highly influenced by the new emissions legislations such as the forthcoming Euro 5 in Europe. As a result, there is an emergence of new exhaust systems technologies for both diesel engines such as close-coupled diesel particulate filters, NOx traps, and clean exhaust gas regeneration.

This third edition report reviews the key market drivers for exhaust systems, addressing the following issues:

-- With increasingly stricter emissions regulations forecasted, the emissions control content per light vehicle will rise over the next few years as a result of the introduction of multiple catalytic converters per vehicle and heat exchangers. What can we expect? How will carmakers respond to escalating prices?

-- With the ever popular diesel-powered engine in Europe, the market for particulate filters is growing exponentially. What are the opportunities in the retrofit market? For whom?

-- For some time, we have seen how manufacturers have focused on acoustical engineering of exhausts to help OEMs differentiate individual brands. What are manufacturers doing in this respect?

-- We're also seeing some exhaust manufacturers close or restructure their manufacturing footprint in Europe. Is there still too much capacity in the (exhaust) industry?

-- Who is investing in the emerging markets?

-- Despite the pace of consolidation in the exhaust sector, there are still a few small manufacturers in existence. What is the future for these smaller concerns?
