DaimlerChrysler Financial Services Holds 2006 Women's Conference

State of Michigan's Lisa Webb Sharpe Leads Discussion of 'CAN DO Spirit' and Opportunities for Women

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Sept. 18 -- DaimlerChrysler Financial Services is holding a professional development seminar for more than 100 female managers and executive employees across the United States. The three-day conference starts today and will have Lisa Webb Sharpe, Director - Department of Management and Budget as keynote speaker.

Webb Sharpe addressed attendees at the 2006 DaimlerChrysler Financial Services Women's Conference held in Farmington Hills, Mich. September 18-20. Webb Sharpe's focus was the "CAN DO Spirit." "The CAN DO Spirit is one that flows inside of a person's being," said Webb Sharpe. "It is a spirit that has no limits or boundaries, rather one that perseveres despite the odds. It understands and identifies the barriers and obstacles, but works strategically to eliminate them or render them non-applicable," she added. CAN DO is an acronym for commitment, attitude, networking, determination and opportunities for women.

The women's conference brings together women from across DaimlerChrysler's automotive financial services organization to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing women as they strive to take on greater roles in business. Women executives from DaimlerChrysler Financial Services that participated in the conference included: Janet Marzett, Vice President - Human Resources; Tracy Hackman, Vice President - General Counsel; and Janet Toronski, Vice President - Dealer Credit and National Accounts.

Additional executive panelists included Klaus Entenmann - President and Chief Executive Officer for DaimlerChrysler Financial Services Americas and Paul Knauss, Vice President - Operations of DaimlerChrysler Financial Services Americas.

"This event reflects DaimlerChrysler Financial Services' commitment to personal and career growth for each of our employees to help them develop to their fullest potential," said Marzett.

Topics discussed in break-out sessions included career development, professional presence, power mentoring and networking. The DaimlerChrysler Financial Services Women's Forum was also honored at the conference as being integral in providing their perspectives in planning and supporting women's issues and events like these. The Women's Forum's mission is to provide a supportive work environment that attracts, retains and motivates talented women within DaimlerChrysler Financial Services.

"One of the strengths at DaimlerChrysler Financial Services is our commitment to diversity, so it's not surprise the company values opportunities for mentoring and networking events like these that foster positive relationships," added Marzett.

Women comprise more than fifty percent of the DaimlerChrysler Financial Services workforce, while minorities and women comprise sixty-two percent.
