New Employee Representative Appointed to the DaimlerChrysler AG Supervisory Board

STUTTGART, Germany, September 4 -- DaimlerChrysler announced today that the court of registry in Stuttgart has appointed Ron Gettelfinger as an employee (union) representative on the Supervisory Board of DaimlerChrysler AG. Ron Gettelfinger is the president of the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW). Effective immediately, Gettelfinger is a member of the Supervisory Board through 2008.

The judicial appointment, the last step in the nomination process, was due to the retirement of Nate Gooden, one of the previous union representatives on DaimlerChrysler's Supervisory Board.

Ron Gettelfinger (62) was first elected president of the UAW in 2002 and was re-elected to a second term in 2006. Gettelfinger was appointed to the Supervisory Board, per a proposal by the German labor union, IG Metall. Since the merger of Daimler-Benz AG with Chrysler Corporation in 1998, the IG Metall nominates a representative of the UAW to one of their seats on the Supervisory Board.
