Acura Announces August 2006 Sales Results

Truck Sales Reach a Monthly Record for the Luxury Division

TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 1 -- Paced by continued steady sales of the MDX luxury performance SUV and the introduction of the turbocharged RDX crossover, Acura sold an August record of 5,654 trucks during the month, the division announced today.

MDX posted 4,293 units during August, bringing its year-to-date total to 33,377. Meanwhile, 1,361 RDX's were purchased in its first month of sales (the vehicle went on sale August 10). Total Acura sales for the month reached 18,263 units, down 8.5 percent based on the daily selling rate, with total year-to-date sales now at 132,767 units.

"Acura's August record for truck sales demonstrates our growth in the segment," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, sales. "RDX is an exciting new addition to the Acura lineup, while MDX continues to be a leader in its class."

Additionally, the TSX sports sedan continued its sales momentum in 2006 with sales of 3,330 units. Year-to-date TSX sales reached 26,955 -- up more than eight percent versus 2005.

The TL performance luxury sedan maintained its position as the top-selling Acura, with 6,339 units sold in August, bringing year-to-date TL sales totals to 48,940.
