Electric Car ZAPs Bay Area Events This Weekend

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--Aug. 25, 2006--A new electric car called the ZAP XEBRA from Bay Area automotive pioneer ZAP (NYSE Arca:ZP) will be on display this weekend at events in South San Francisco and Pleasanton.

Starting Friday the new ZAP XEBRA PK will be showcased as part of the Goodguys / Texaco Havoline 20th Anniversary West Coast Nationals, August 25 through 27 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton. According to event officials, it is the west's largest automotive event featuring over 3,500 models of 1954 and earlier hot rods, customs & classics. The XEBRA is scheduled for display later today at the annual Genentech environmental fair. With over 9,000 employees worldwide, the employee-oriented party is held to communicate Genentech's commitment to environmental protection and to increase employee participation in environmental protection. ZAP introduced the XEBRA PK this week to fleet managers in California. The multi-purpose all-electric vehicle is designed as an affordable alternative for gas fleets and a second car for families and can serve a multitude of functions, from industrial fleets, to commuting. In an interview yesterday with Chinese television, KTSF Cantonese News of San Francisco, ZAP CEO Steve Schneider said he believes this is the first US automotive venture to import production models from China, and they are electric.
