Car Dealers Offer Discounts to Clear Inventory

Washington DC August 3, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that auto dealers are piling their own discounts on top of those being offered by automakers in attempt to clear out inventory before the end of summer.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the incentives include offering car buyers employee pricing on brands such as Toyota, Cadillac, and Lincoln, while other offers include pricing that expands on discounts available from some automakers.

Dealers added an average of $2,601 in discounts to models last month, up 25 percent from $2,087 in March and up 62 percent from the $1,602 in incentives last July, according to CNW Marketing Research.
