DriversEd.com Gives High School Students a Head Start

OAKLAND, Calif., July 13 -- Millions of teens start the school year with expectations of becoming licensed drivers under state mandated Gradual Driver Licensing (GDL) guidelines look to DriversEd.com for help. DriversEd.com "click. learn. drive." allows students more time for behind-the-wheel driver's training.

GDL requires today's teens have more experience with driving than did their parents before getting a first driver's license. GDL guidelines vary by state and include some or all of the following: a minimum age of 15.5 for obtaining a learner's permit; a waiting period after obtaining a learner's permit of at least 3 months before applying for an intermediate license; minimum of 30 hours of supervised driving; a minimum age of 16 for obtaining an intermediate license; a nighttime driving restriction; and restriction on carrying passengers.

"We're seeing around the country that States are raising the bar for driver's ed and training. It's great that teens are required to have additional training, so that they are more experienced when they hit the road making driving safer for everyone," says DriversEd.com founder Gary Tsifrin. "But schedule is proving to be a real problem. We make it possible for students to complete their driver's ed requirements on their own time."

All online, the DriversEd.com course is DMV approved and ranges from $75 to $150. The interactive curriculum is entirely web-based and state specific. In addition to learner's permit preparation for all fifty states, DriversEd.com provides the required DMV certificate-of-completion of drivers education for teens seeking their first license in California, Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, Nevada, Oklahoma, Virginia and Texas.
