BP Fuels Hold Top Ranking for More than 15 Consecutive Years

CHICAGO--May 1, 20061, 2006--BP continues to receive praise for the quality of its fuels. The annual Fuels Quality Survey (1), conducted by The NPD Group, Inc., recently revealed that Amoco Fuels at BP - available at all sites east of the Rockies - are rated highest in quality across not one, but all three, individual grades: premium Amoco Ultimate(R), Amoco Silver(R) and Amoco(R) Regular gasolines.

BP prides itself in its commitment to deliver only high-quality fuels to its customers, which helps them receive great results for their vehicles. In fact, BP has received the number one ranking in quality on NPD Group's Fuels Quality Survey for 16 years.

"Quality is of the utmost importance when fueling your vehicle. By checking the owners' manual and continuously running the right grade of Amoco fuels at BP, you can begin to enjoy the benefits of better fuel economy, performance and lower maintenance costs," said Denny Kahler, Immediate Past Chairman of the Automotive Service Association (ASA).

To track the quality of its products, BP consistently tests thousands of fuel samples for product quality through its oversight teams and random refinery, terminal and site testing.

"At BP, we have a long tradition and commitment to quality assurance. Our team of expert engineers and scientists continually work to provide customers with quality fuel choices for the wide range of vehicles and trucks on the road today," said Larry Peck, Vice President, Global Fuels Technology. "Additionally, BP backs up the quality of all its fuels with a written guarantee, and is the only major integrated oil company to do so."

All grades of Amoco(R) gasoline sold by BP contain an additive package that is designed to meet or exceed all relevant legal and industry standards for all gasoline grades in all markets. With continuous use, Amoco Ultimate(R) gasoline will clean up dirty engines and will keep engines clean.

The quality of Amoco fuels at BP has even garnered support from a global OEM, Ford Motor Co. In July 2005 it was announced that all 2006 model year Ford Division cars, pickups and SUVs in the US would roll-off assembly lines with gas caps recommending BP to customers by stating "FORD RECOMMENDS BP." This was the first time in the United States a major auto manufacturer has recommended an energy company's fuel.

"The Ford endorsement recognizes BP's dedication to producing fuels that help improve cars' performance, efficiency and emissions," said Chuck Grawey, Vice President of BP Fuels Management Group. "We at BP are proud that Ford, a company well-known for its quality vehicles, values the BP brand as its first choice for quality fuels."

In addition to its written guarantee, BP monitors quality assurance by controlling and assessing the quality of every batch of gasoline.

(1) The 2006 Fuels Quality Survey was completed by more than 18,000 consumers nationwide. The survey included a report which included regional and grade breakdowns. It is based on a large-scale consumer survey which asks people to select which fuel brand they believe to be highest quality, both overall and by individual grade.
