!!! STANBROUGH COLLECTS ELLIOTTBRAND CASH !!!

CRAMER & SUTLIFF WIN TOO

BLOOMINGTON, IN (April 22, 2006) - Steve Elliott, owner of Elliottbrand, conceived the idea of a a special sprint car feature a couple of years ago while he was designing our slick website. He had pretty well been hooked on sprint car racing while he was designing a website for our first four time sprint car champion Derek Scheffel. Of course Scheffel and his family are strong supporters of Bloomington Speedway; and they sold Elliott. Last night's race was the third edition of the Elliottbrand Clash; and, each year, the event has been bigger and better than the year before.

It's hard to imagine how Steve could top this year's event; but I wouldn't bet against it. Last night's race paid $4000 to win plus lap prize money. That made it probably the richest sprint car race in the state. When you put that kind of money on the line, top competitors will come. Forty two cars unloaded; and there wasn't a slug among them. Cory Kruseman and Damion Gardner flew in from California to run event. Keith Kunz Motorsports also showed up in force with Kruseman, Bryan Clauson, and Darren Hagen. There were quality cars from one end of the pits to the other. However, the Bloomington Speedway regulars were on hand too; and they were intent on keeping the Elliottbrand cash at home. Although they were only partially successful, they certainly gave a good account of themselves.

The scourge of West Coast sprint car racing, Damion "The Demon" Gardner started on the pole beside last week's second place finisher, Jon Stanbrough. Stanbrough put the Steve & Brad Fox owned sprinter in the lead on the first circuit; and it stayed their for all thirty laps of the feature event. Bud Kaeding quickly put the #2 B car in second place but he had nothing for Stanbrough. Daron Clayton held off USAC star Dave Darland and four time Bloomington Speedway sprint car champion Derek Scheffel to finish third.

Last week's feature winner Dick Gaines II came from his 12th place starting position to finish a respectable sixth. Former Bloomington Speedway Rookie of the Year and Ganassi development driver Bryan Clauson finished seventh ahead of fast qualifier Mat Neely USAC/CRA points leader Cory Kruseman, and Kent Christian.

In preliminary action Kent Christian, Cory Kruseman, Dave Darland, Dick Gaines II, and Justin Marvel won the heat races. Jay Drake won the "C" Feature; and Daron Clayton prevailed in the "B" feature.

0'NEAL WOOD PRODUCTS MODIFIEDS -

In the O'Neal Wood Product modified feature Ralph Groomer and Ryan Thomas started side by side on the front row with Ray Humphrey and Derek Groomer behind them. When the green flag waved Ralph Groomer jumped into the lead followed by Thomas. When the fourth lap went into the books, Ray Humphrey had moved into second place; and defending O'Neal Wood Products modified champion Jesse Cramer had moved from his seventh place starting position to take fourth. On the seventh lap both Humphrey and Cramer passed Groomer to take the first and second positions.

Cramer passed Humphrey to take the lead on the eleventh circuit. He would lead the tenacious Humphrey the entire distance to the checkered flags. Ralph Groomer, Ryan Thomas, and Matt Boknecht rounded out the top five.

Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks:

Steve Sutliff drew the low pill to earn the right to start on the pole of the Tire & Wheel Center super stock division. And, he made the most of the opportunity by leading the feature event flag to flag. However, it wasn't as easy as that may sound. Jeremy Hines started third right behind Sutliff. Hines kept his battle-scarred mount on Sutliff's back bumper for the entire distance of the feature. He was probably a little faster than Sutliff; but he didn't have enough to get past him. Joe Lucas moved up from his sixth place starting position to finish third. Chris Hillman started and finished fourth; however, Gary Trammell worked his way up to fifth from his tenth place starting position to round out the top five.

In preliminary action, Hines, Winston Howe, and Joe Lucas won the heat races.
