Scania: 150 Replacement Jobs in Falun

STOCKHOLM, Sweden--March 31, 2006--Today Scania (STO:SCVA)(STO:SCVB) has signed letters of intent with companies that wish to take over portions of the production in Falun, Sweden when Scania moves its European axle production to Sodertalje, Sweden late in 2008. These companies have been Scania suppliers for some time. Initially, their operations will employ an estimated 150 people. The aim is that they will eventually also add new operations.

"The letters of intent mean that negotiations are now entering a stage where the parties will agree in greater detail on the conditions," says Per Hallberg of Scania's Executive Board.

"It is encouraging that today we can already show the first results of our discussions concerning replacement jobs, which have been under way for a while," says Anders Williamsson, head of Scania's axle production unit in Falun.

Mr Williamsson also points to constructive collaboration with the Municipality of Falun in this task, as well as when it comes to finding new companies that can establish operations at Scania's premises in Falun.
