DETROIT – General Motors recently launched version 3.0 of their popular “Women with Drive” Sweepstakes on the company’s female-focused consumer Website, GM.com/women.

“The sweepstakes was received so well that we brought it back for a third year,” said Cynthia Price, manager, GM Women’s Marketing & Sales. “In 2005, more than 112,000 women registered for the sweepstakes and we awarded more than $35,000 worth of prizes, including the $10,000 grand prize. Our goal was to compel women to visit the site for valuable information on safety, service and purchasing and the sweepstakes helped drive traffic.”

Joan Savage of Traverse City, Mich., a current GM owner, was last year’s grand prize winner. "I was thrilled to receive the $10,000 prize and definitely plan on keeping the GM tradition in my family," said Savage.

This year “Women with Drive” will give away hundreds of online gift certificates to major retailers. Registrants will automatically be entered for a chance to win the quarterly Grand Prize providing four chances at a luxury spa vacation at Canyon Ranch Health Resort or $10,000 that can be used toward any GM vehicle.

GM launched its “Women in the Driver’s Seat” website in 2004 to educate, inform and empower women making major automotive buying and servicing decisions.

The site gives readers straightforward information on buying a vehicle, servicing a vehicle and safety on the road. The site includes checklists with detailed information on what a perspective car buyer needs to know when going for a test drive, negotiating a price or taking delivery of a vehicle, an overview of GM only safety innovations and tips for proper and preventative vehicle maintenance.

“Empowering women to become better consumers and vehicle owners is important to GM,” said Larry Hice, executive director, Marketing and Sales Support. “Our desired outcome from ‘Women with Drive’ is to provide essential knowledge and instill confidence.”
