TORONTO - March 16, 2006: WaveRider Communications Inc. (OTCBB:WAVR), the leader in non-line-of-sight wireless broadband technology and deployments, today announced that the City of Indianola, Iowa Police Department has deployed WaveRider's MMT9000 Mobile Terminals to establish mobile broadband communications for police personnel utilizing a WaveRider LMS4000 900 MHz network operated by Dynamic Broadband.

"Getting high-speed Internet access into the squad car has been one of my top priorities," said Chief Steve Bonnett of the Indianola Police Department. "The WaveRider mobile wireless solution is easily deployed, reliable and very affordable for smaller police forces to obtain this capability."

In addition they can access other databases from the Department of Transportation to check driver license and vehicle registration. Broadband access through the MMT9000 also provides the capability to monitor bank security and video surveillance systems from the squad car. The Indianola Police Department with 19 officers and 7 squad cars serves a community of 14,000 residents in an area covering 10 square miles. Indianola is located 15 miles south of Des Moines, Iowa.

The Indianola Police utilize a secure private subnet of a WaveRider LMS4000 wireless 900 MHz network operated and supported by Dynamic Broadband which provides coverage to most of the city. This wireless network has provided high-speed services to residential and business customers in Indianola for over three years. Establishing a secure private subnet for police use is made possible through the Open Access Networking capability of the LMS4000 system.

According to Mark Lundy, Chief Technical Officer at Dynamic Broadband, "The capabilities and potential of the MMT9000 mobile terminal extend well beyond public safety applications. Utilities and transportation companies are some of the other businesses that need mobile broadband solutions and the MMT9000 is one of the most feature rich, highly secure and field proven solutions available today."

"Progressive and innovative leaders recognize that today's law enforcement personnel need the power and the resources of the Internet to do their job no matter where they are," said Charles W. Brown, CEO of WaveRider. "The MMT9000 mobile terminal is tool that can be utilized by police departments and other public safety agencies of any size to provide high-speed data services to personnel in the field."

WaveRider's MMT9000 mobile terminals support Voice over IP, video, short message, and data communications. The terminals can be installed quickly and easily and are designed to interface with all standard IP networks using standard interface protocols. The MMT9000 supports seamless hand-offs when roaming from an area covered by one base station to another, Operating in the license-exempt 900 MHz spectrum, the MMT9000 offers up to 2 Mbps peak over the air data transfer rates. The propagation characteristics of the 900 MHz spectrum enable robust non-line-of-sight wireless connections.
