Mercedes Luxury SUV To Hit Showrooms in May

Washington DC March 14, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that the Mercedes 2007 GL-Class SUV will hit the showrooms in the U.S. this May and are expected to challenge the Cadillac Escalade, reports The Detroit News. "Thirty to 35 percent of domestic luxury SUV owners own a Mercedes sedan," said Ron Mueller, product manager of the GL-Class. "So we said, 'why not give them a Mercedes full-size SUV?'

George Peterson, president of the automotive research firm AutoPacific Inc. in Tustin, Calif., thinks GL-Class annual sales in the United States could be 12,000 to 18,000 units.
