AIADA Announces Resignation of President Marianne McInerney

Alexandria, VA (March 7, 2006): Don Hicks, Chairman of AIADA, today announced that Marianne McInerney, President of AIADA, has resigned from the organization effective Monday.

“Yesterday, I regretfully accepted the resignation of Marianne McInerney, who has led our organization through what many of us consider to be our most important years. Marianne joined our organization at a time when we called for fast reforms that would renew our mission and purpose. Her energy and drive brought our vision into reality,” said Hicks. “During her time with AIADA, Marianne streamlined our processes and reduced expenses while simultaneously expanding our programs and presence. She has set AIADA on a strong organizational and financial foundation for continued growth and strengthened our voice in Washington.”

In a letter to Hicks, Marianne McInerney stated, “The last three years have allowed for incredible progress for AIADA. Together, we breathed new life into AIADA through the development of new bylaws and governance policies, the creation of a three-year strategic plan, the re-establishment of AIADA’s voice on Capitol Hill and significant progress on legislative goals, the addition of new programs and services, and a new ability to reach out to hundreds of our members where they thrive – in their dealerships.”

Regarding her decision, McInerney said “During this time, many new challenges have been placed before me --- through them I have grown, as has my incredible respect for the men and women who make up this industry. As fulfilling as my time with AIADA as been, several new opportunities have been presented that I would like to explore, without detracting from what I have achieved at AIADA. It is with that intent in mind that I announce my resignation as President of AIADA. I leave AIADA extremely proud of the organization.”

AIADA will establish a search committee to identify a new president in the coming days.

“As we move forward, AIADA’s entire team is deeply focused on our Annual Automotive Congress and on activating our members to carry our collective message to the Hill,” said Chairman Hicks.
