Toyota Selects Carfax to Join Certified Used Program; Carfax Vehicle History Reports Become Key Part of Automaker's Certification Process

TORRANCE, Calif.--Nov. 2, 20052, 2005--Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., has selected Carfax as a key component in the Toyota Certified Used Vehicle (TCUV) and Scion Certified Pre-owned (CPO) programs.

Beginning December 1, 2005, Carfax Vehicle History Reports will be required in the Toyota and Scion certification process. In fact, vehicles cannot be deemed "Toyota or Scion Certified" without a Carfax Vehicle History Report. In addition to meeting Toyota's stringent quality standards, each vehicle must qualify for the Carfax Buyback Guarantee, indicating the vehicle history does not contain any DMV-reported incidents (salvage, fire, flood, odometer problems or manufacturer buyback). TCUV dealers have sold over 1.5 million certified used vehicles. Every certified Toyota and Scion vehicle must undergo a rigorous 160-point quality assurance inspection to meet Toyota's strict mechanical and appearance specifications. Each certified vehicle is covered by a 3-month/ 3,000 mile comprehensive warranty and a seven-year/ 100,000-mile limited power-train warranty. All Certified Toyota and Scion cars will include a free Carfax Vehicle History Report.
