Ward's Reports Estimated Weekly North American Vehicle Production - November 18, 2005

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Nov. 18, 2005 -- Vehicle production this week in the U.S., Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 308,894 units, up 0.3 percent from the 307,908 cars and trucks built last week, according to WardsAuto.com.

Including this week's estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 14,737,435 vehicles, up 0.5 percent from like-2004's pace.

In the U.S., automakers are expected to produce 218,123 vehicles this week, up 1.2 percent from the 215,454 cars and trucks built last week. To date, calendar 2005 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated 10,865,163 units, up 0.2 percent compared to the 10,843,997 vehicles built in like-2004.

This week's Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 56,376, an increase of 3.5 percent from the 54,481 units assembled last week. Estimated calendar 2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,390,629 units, down 1.8 percent compared to the 2,433,268 vehicles produced in like-2004.

Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the U.S., General Motors Corp. accounted for 24.3 percent; Ford Motor Co., 23.5 percent; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 10.0 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 9.1 percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 8.1 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 8.5 percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 4.5 percent; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.6 percent; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.3 percent; BMW of North America Inc., 1.2 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.9 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 1.0 percent; and other manufacturers, 5.0 percent.
