Launch of Volkswagen's Eos convertible pushed back

Launch of Volkswagen's Eos convertible pushed back

Production of Volkswagen's new Eos hardtop-convertible has been
delayed, according to the automaker's hometown newspaper Wolfsburger
Nachrichten as translated and cited by LeftlaneNews.com. The report
indicates that production has been pushed from February, 2006, to
summer 2006. The paper's sources cited technical probelms with the
roof construction, while a VW rep gave larger-than-expected demand
and insufficient production capacity at a Portgual plant as the
reason behind the delay. Previously, the new convertible was expected
to be available in Europe in February, followed by a U.S. launch in
May. The car is expected to cost somewhere around $32,000.
