Ward's Reports Estimated Weekly North American Vehicle Production - Nov 11, 2005

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Nov. 11, 2005 -- Vehicle production this week in the U.S., Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 299,726 units, down 14.0 percent from the 348,691 cars and trucks built last week, according to http://wardsauto.com/ .

Including this week's estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 14,394,737 vehicles, up 0.4 percent from like-2004's pace.

In the U.S., automakers are expected to produce 213,358 vehicles this week, down 15.3 percent from the 251,947 cars and trucks built last week. To date, calendar 2005 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated 10,635,066 units, up 0.3 percent compared to the 10,599,818 vehicles built in like-2004.

This week's Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 51,324, a decrease of 8.0 percent from the 55,781 units assembled last week. Estimated calendar 2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,320,182 units, down 2.4 percent compared to the 2,377,443 vehicles produced in like-2004.

Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the U.S., General Motors Corp. accounted for 25.5 percent; Ford Motor Co., 20.7 percent; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 13.0 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 9.1 percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 8.2 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 8.1 percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.9 percent; AutoAlliance International Inc., 1.9 percent; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.3 percent; BMW of North America Inc., 1.2 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 1.0 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 1.0 percent; and other manufacturers, 5.1 percent.
