Tachi-S to Establish Joint Venture in the U.S.

Tokyo (JCN) Oct 27, 2005- Tachi-S, a Tokyo-based innovative vehicle seat developer, will establish a joint venture with US automotive interior supplier Lear Corporation in a suburb of Smyrna, Tennessee, in November.

To be capitalized at $18 million, TACLE Seating U.S.A. LLC will be owned 51% by Tachi-S Engineering U.S.A., Inc., Tchi-S's wholly owned subsidiary in the US, and 49% by Lear Operations Corporation, Lear's wholly owned subsidiary.

The joint venture will produce seats and related components for the Smyrna plant of Nissan North America. It will produce 130,000 units per year starting in May 2007.
