Cruz Pedregon Advances To Quarterfinals in Vegas
 
LAS VEGAS (Oct. 23, 2005) ­ Advance Auto Parts Nitro Funny Car driver Cruz
Pedregon advanced to the quarterfinals of todayıs ACDelco NHRA Nationals at
The Strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Pedregon moved into the second round by out dueling Whit Bazemore. Both
drivers smoked the tires early, but Pedregon out-throttled Bazemore to the
stripe.

³Itıs always tough to go up against a quality opponent in round one,² said
the 1992 POWERade Funny Car World Champ. ³The crew did a great job and Iım
happy we were able to get that win. Every round win is valuable with the
competition like it is.

³It was an awesome field this weekend,² Pedregon said. ³We had three good
qualifying sessions out of four and the car responded to the changes we made
to it.²

In round two, Tony Bartone defeated Pedregon after both smoked the tires.

³The track went away from us a little bit,² Pedregon continued. ³We felt
confident for that round. But looking back on it, we had a supercharger that
was creating more horsepower. On that run, it created a pound and a half
more boost, which was enough to put us over the edge.²
