RAIN POSTPONES QUALIFYING AT ATCO, AGAIN

	ATCO, N.J. - The NHRA Northeast Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing
Series racers returned to Atco Raceway to pick up where they left off
earlier this month when bad weather caused the postponement of the event
to this weekend. Unfortunately, the rain returned as well, and has once
again postponed final qualifying and time trials until Saturday.
	"We'll come back and try it again tomorrow," commented NHRA
Northeast Division Director Bob Lang. "Right now we have a final
qualifying and time trial set for Saturday morning, followed immediately
by eliminations."
	The story of the weekend is the battle for the Top Alcohol Funny
Car National Championship between Schenectady, N.Y., racer Bob Newberry
and Frank Manzo out of Morganville, N.J. Newberry currently has a 20
point lead and won the last Northeast Divisional event in Englishtown,
N.J., but Manzo has been hot on the national event tour grabbing wins at
three of the last four events.
	Gates at Atco Raceway open at 7 a.m. on Saturday with racing set
for 9 a.m. Tickets for Saturday's action are $20. For more information,

on the October 7, prior to the event being postponed to this weekend.
