Las Vegas, Nev. (October 20, 2005) ­

* Cruz Pedregon, driver of the Advance Auto Parts Nitro Funny Car, heads to
Las Vegas for the second time this season to compete in the fifth annual
ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals. The 1992 Funny Car champion and his
Advance Auto Parts Nitro Funny Car are ready to participate in the 22nd race
of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series schedule at The Strip at Las Vegas
Motor Speedway. 
 
* Cruz Pedregon, piloto del Funny Car del equipo de Advance Auto Parts, se
dirige a Las Vegas por segunda vez esta temporada para participar en el
quinto campeonato anual de los ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals. El campeón
de Funny Car del 1992 y su Advance Auto Parts Nitro Funny Car están ansiosos
por competir en The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway durante la 22ava
carrera de la NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.
 
* Since the race at Indianapolis, Pedregon and the Advance Auto Parts team
have been hard at work consolidating and uniting strategies and car set up
to that of his brother Tony (Pedregon). Pedregon expects sharing information
between the two cars will continue to improve performance and consistency.

> ³I think we¹ve taken the final step in making our car like Tony¹s.² Pedregon
> explained. ³We took baby steps in making our cars the same because we wanted
> to establish a baseline we could work from. We stumbled a little bit in
> Dallas, but we weren¹t nearly as off as it appeared. We missed by a little bit
> because of ignition problems ­ and some bad luck as well.

* Desde la carrera en Indianapolis, Pedregon y su equipo de Advance Auto
Parts han trabajado mucho para consolidar y unificar la estrategia y diseño
de autos con el de su hermano Tony (Pedregon). Pedregon espera que el

* Las Vegas has not dealt Pedregon a lucky hand thus far, but with the new
team set up and years of experience, Pedregon knows that it could be his
turn to claim a win.

> ³We¹re starting off with a fresh set of downs and we look forward to the race
> in Las Vegas,² Pedregon said. ³It¹s definitely a fast track and I think we¹ll
> bounce back and be in great shape. We not only want to qualify well, but we¹re
> going in there looking to win. We¹re feeling pretty good and the team is
> upbeat.

> ³We have two races to go and we¹re definitely going to do all we can to be in
> the middle of the fight.²

* So far this season, Pedregon has improved his personal E.T. to 4.680
seconds, the second best elapsed time in Funny Car history. During that same
run in Joliet, Ill., Pedregon grabbed a career top speed of 330.80 mph.
Pedregon made it to the semifinals at Pomona, scored a runner up at Houston
Raceway Park and reached the semi¹s during the next four races. After a
number one qualifier in Englishtown, N.J., and Joliet, Ill., Pedregon heads
to Las Vegas tenth in NHRA Nitro Funny Car points with 941.
 
* Esta temporada, hasta el momento, Pedregon ha mejorado su tiempo personal
a 4.680 segundos, el segundo mejor tiempo de la historia de Funny Cars.
