Toyota Celebrates Sale of 1.5 Millionth Certified Used Vehicle

Ohio customer gets her 2004 Camry for free

American Red Cross, Vandalia Butler High School also benefit

VANDALIA, Ohio, Oct. 19 -- Bonnie Newton of Huber Heights, Ohio, thought she got an excellent deal when she purchased her 2004 Toyota Camry from Joseph Airport Toyota. Turns out she got a good deal, and a good deal more by being the 1,500,000th consumer to purchase a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle (TCUV.)

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc. officials today presented Newton with a check reimbursing her for the cost of her purchase, plus additional gifts to celebrate Toyota's milestone. In addition, Toyota marked the occasion with special donations to the American Red Cross and the Vandalia Butler High School.

"I was very pleased with my purchase of the Camry," said Bonnie Newton. "It was the second Toyota certified vehicle in our family, so the benefits offered were very important to me. Later, when Toyota notified me that the Camry would be mine for free, it was hard to believe. It was a delightful development."

Toyota officials from the company's headquarters in Torrance, Calif. and regional office in Cincinnati marked today's occasion with additional gifts for Newton and two charitable contributions. A check for over $26,000, representing the like amount given to Newton, was presented to local officials of the American Red Cross. In addition, Toyota presented a check for $5,000 to Vandalia Butler High School, to benefit their band program, while Joseph Airport Toyota provided the school with an additional $2,500 gift.

Newton also received a 7 year Platinum Vehicle Service Agreement from Toyota Financial Services; 3 years of free maintenance, a $500 gas card and a new set of tires, when tires are needed on her Camry.

The Toyota Certified Used Vehicle program has been an industry leader since its inception in January 1996.

Each Toyota Certified Used Vehicle receives a rigorous 160-point quality assurance inspection of all mechanical, appearance and safety features. Toyota recently enhanced its TCUV program, so that TCUV vehicles sold after October 1, 2005 are backed by a seven-year, 100,000-mile factory powertrain warranty and Roadside Assistance. In addition, TCUV buyers receive a comprehensive warranty of three-months/3,000 miles. Toyotas from 1999-2006 model years with less than 85,000 miles are eligible for the program.
