DaimlerChrysler Honored at First-Ever Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council (CAMSC) Achievement Awards Gala

TORONTO, Oct. 12 -- DaimlerChrysler will be honored by the Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council (CAMSC) at the non- profit organization's first-ever Business Achievement Awards Dinner Gala on October 12, 2005.

DaimlerChrysler, a charter member of CAMSC, will be recognized for its leadership and ongoing commitment to supplier diversity in Canada.

"DaimlerChrysler is honored to receive this award from CAMSC," said Jethro Joseph, Senior Manager - Diversity Supplier Development, Chrysler Group. "As a U.S.-based company, we have a tradition of supporting opportunity for minority suppliers, and are excited to build those relationships across the border into Canada."

Joseph will accept the award on behalf of DaimlerChrysler at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto.

CAMSC was created in 2004 to promote purchasing from Aboriginal and minority enterprises by large corporations. During the organization's charter year, DaimlerChrysler has promoted opportunities for CAMSC members through introductions to both the Michigan Minority Business Development Council (MMBDC) and the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). For the first time, CAMSC members also participated in DaimlerChrysler's annual Matchmaker event, gaining them visibility with Tier One suppliers.

DaimlerChrysler Diversity Supplier Development

Since 1983, DaimlerChrysler has been a leader in supporting minority business enterprises and has sourced more than $27 billion to minority-owned companies. In 2004, DaimlerChrysler spent $3.4 billion with minority suppliers, which represents 12 percent of its total purchasing spend and an increase of $300 million from the previous year.

DaimlerChrysler has received the National Minority Supplier Development Council's Corporation of the Year award: in 1986, 1993 and 2000.

The Corporation was also recently named "Corporation of the Year" by the Michigan Minority Business Development Council for the fifth time, since 2000.
