Cruz Pedregon Final Qualifying Notes

ENNIS, Texas (October 8, 2005) - Cruz Pedregon, driver of the Advance Auto
Parts Nitro Funny Car, was left on the outside as qualifying closed for this
weekend's 20th annual NHRA Fall Nationals at Texas Motorplex.

Pedregon was not able to improve on his Friday run of 4.911 seconds at
319.37 mph and was surpassed by brother Frank Pedregonıs run of 4.768
seconds during todayıs first session. After a No. 1 qualifier last weekend
at Joliet, Ill., Pedregon talked about the ups and downs the Advance Auto
Parts team is experiencing.

³We did not have a bad first run,² Pedregon explained. ³But for the rest of
qualifying, problems kept popping up and made it difficult to make it down
the track. Iım going to meet with Ron (Douglas, crew chief) and Sam
(Shockey, co crew chief) to evaluate carefully all the data we have. I felt
we were having some problems with the fuel system, but we need to
investigate it further.

³Weıre are going to stay here Monday to do some testing,² Pedregon added.
³Weıll do whatever we need to do to get the car ready for Las Vegas. We had
a good car last weekend (in Joliet. Ill.,) and we need to pick up where we
left off there.²
