Cruz Pedregon Friday Qualifying Wrap Up
Advance Auto Parts Driver Takes Provisional 16th
 
ENNIS, Texas (Oct. 7, 2005) ­Cruz Pedregon and the Advance Auto Parts Nitro
Funny Car completed the first two rounds of qualifying at Texas Mortorplex
today taking home the 16th spot for the 20th annual NHRA Fall Nationals.

The California resident logged a 4.911-second elapsed time at 319.37 mph
during the first pass of the day setting up two important qualifying
sessions tomorrow. 

Todayıs conditions were similar to last weekendıs in Joliet, Ill. where
Pedregon grabbed the No. 1 spot and set the second best elapsed time in
Funny Car history (4.680 seconds).

³We set the car to be very aggressive,² Pedregon explained. ³But sometimes
these cars donıt do what you expect. Still, weıll be ready for tomorrow.
When you run on the edge and are looking for the numbers, youıre also on the
very edge of going over. Thatıs what happened today.²
