NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES - NORTHEAST DIVISION ATCO RACEWAY Saturday, October 08, 2005, 2005 NHRA Northeast Division Finale Postponed ATCO, N.J. - The rain that arrived Friday night, continued in to Saturday Morning and is forecasted throughout the weekend forcing NHRA and Atco Raceway officials to postpone this weekend's Franklin Trailers NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. "The rain saturated much of the facility and it does not look to end anytime in the next several days," commented Bob Lang NHRA Northeast Division Director. "We never want to return on a later date but after looking at the radar and contacting the National Weather Service, it's the only thing we can do." Racers will return to Atco Raceway on Thursday, October 20th for parking and a track held test and tune session. Event action will resume on Friday the 21st with a single qualifying and time trail session followed by round one of eliminations on Saturday morning. Tech will be open on Friday only, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday's qualifying action will carry over to final qualifying on October 21st with Art Gallant in Top Alcohol Dragster and David Ray in Top Alcohol Funny Car leading their fields. Many of the NHRA Northeast division's racers will head to Maple Grove Raceway in Mohan, Pa., next weekend for the Pennsylvania Dutch Classic before returning to Atco Raceway in two weeks.
