CAPPS IS NO. 1 QUALIFIER ON FRIDAY IN TEXAS

DALLAS (Oct. 7, 2005) - Brut Dodge Stratus Funny Car driver Ron Capps
surprised even himself when he qualified No. 1 in the second round of
qualifying today for the O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas
Motorplex, with a track-record-breaking 4.694-second pass at 327.82 mph,
marking his career-best elapsed time.

If he remains No. 1 after tomorrow's two remaining qualifying sessions, he
has the potential to move ahead of John Force in the point standings into
second, behind his teammate Gary Scelzi.

"It's our career best - for Ace, myself and everybody on the [Brut Dodge]
team - and you want to celebrate so much, but it's like 'OK, we have a lot
left this weekend' and so many times you see somebody take the pole and
maybe not win the race. It's a good time to be on fire right now, [fighting
for the championship].
