First Round Loss Keeps “Hot?? Rod Out of

POWERade Top 10

CHICAGO 10/1/05 Unfortunately for “Hot?? Rod Fuller, driver of the Valvoline/ Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster race day at the NHRA AMERIQUEST Mortgage Nationals at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL did not go as hoped for.

“I was really hoping to get back into the Top 10 points standing, but things just didn’t turn out as we hoped. The car ran great, especially considering that we did not attend the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals and last weekend’s event in Dallas was postponed due to Hurricane Rita,?? said Fuller.

Fuller went out in the first round of eliminations with a 4.75 at 311 mph against Clay Millican’s 4.60 at 321 mph.

“We had a hole out right at the hit of the throttle, and unfortunately that’s all it takes to be going home after first round,?? said Fuller. “Even though we didn’t do exactly what we wanted, it was still an awesome weekend. During qualifying I set two new personal bests in both speed and elapsed time, pretty impressive if you ask me.??

At the start of this weekend’s qualifying sessions ‘Hot Rod’s’ personal bests were notched at 4.546 elapsed time and 327mph, at the close of Saturday night’s forth qualifying round both records were improved to 4.508 elapsed time and 329mph.

With three races still left in the season and only attending 14 of the 23 ‘Hot Rod’ Fuller and David Powers Motorsports are less than 50 points away from finishing their first season in the Top 10 point standings.
