Tony Pedregon Drives To Second-Straight Final
Q Racing Nitro Funny Car On a Role

JOLIET, Ill. (Oct. 3, 2005) ­ Tony Pedregon and Q Racing Nitro Funny Car
were once again on top of its game during this weekendıs AmeriQuest Mortgage
NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway.

Pedregon, who qualified in the second slot, made his way to final round
before falling to Ron Capps in a plume of tire smoke. Despite Cappıs winning
4.760/327.82, combination, Pedregon was upbeat about his teamıs impressive
back-to-back performances.

³It was a very good weekend for this race team,² Pedregon said. ³Sometimes,
the higher you go, the tougher you fall. But I donıt really feel that way,
this team has accomplished a lot in making it to two final rounds in a row.

³Weıve done this when everyone is peaking as well,² Pedregon added. ³We won
a couple of weeks ago. I feel we earned that one because we did our
homework, came up with a game plan and it worked out well. We came in here
thinking we improved in some key areas and it showed.²

Pedregonıs trek to the finals wasnıt an easy one either. After knocking out
a tire-smoking Tony Bartone in round one, Pedregon flashed the form that led
him to the 2003 POWERade Funny Car World Championship by defeating Eric
Medlen on a hole shot. Pedregonıs .089 to .115 of a second advantage off the
starting line and 4.829-second elapsed time was enough to hold off Medlenıs
quicker 4.807-second pass.

In the semifinals, Pedregon out muscled points leader Gary Scelzi with a
4.770-second lap at 319.90 mph. Scelzi ran a slightly slower 4.772-second
elapsed time. Pedregon talked about the team.

³We feed this car the best of everything,² Pedregon said. ³We have the best
Q Racing Oil, the best Snap On Tools and we have really good people on this
team. Iıve always felt that way.

³Weıre excited and weıre starting to see some results,² Pedregon continued.
³The car is now performing the way we always have believed it should. Weıre
a bona fide player. Thereıs no doubt about that.²
