CRA SPRINTS MAKE TUCSON DEBUT SATURDAY GARDNER BACK ON TOP AFTER PERRIS TRIUMPH & 19TH FQ

OCTOBER 3, 2005
Damion Gardner of Concord, Calif. leads the Valvoline USAC/CRA
Sprint Car Series to USA Race Park in Tucson, Ariz. this Saturday. The
visit marks the USAC/CRA debut in Tucson and the race will feature a
shootout for the series point lead, which has been passed back and forth in
recent weeks.

A 30-lap feature is scheduled on the 3/8-mile Tucson oval,
which opened last year.

Gardner posted his record 19th fast qualifying time at Perris
(Calif.) Auto Speedway last Saturday, then proceeded to notch his 13th
feature victory of the year in the 30-lap main event. He passed Josh Ford
on lap 12 and led the rest of the way in his Temecula Valley Pipe &
Supply/Arizona Race Mart Eagle/Shaver. Mike Spencer, Cory Kruseman, Tony
Jones and Mike Kirby trailed at the checkered flag.

Rip Williams, the defending CRA titlist, suffered mechanical
problems at Perris and failed to finish the feature, losing the point lead
to Gardner, who takes a 21-point lead into Saturday's Tucson event. A total
of 74 points are available at Tucson.
