CHARLOTTE'S "MOPAR NATIONALS" NEXT FOR SPRINTERS LEVI "SWEEPS" TONY HULMAN FALL HARVEST CLASSIC

OCTOBER 3, 2005

Valvoline USAC National Sprint Car point leader Levi Jones of
Olney, Ill. swept last weekend's 35th "Tony Hulman Fall Harvest Classic"
events at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track and takes an 81-point lead
over runner-up Dave Darland into the October 12 "Mopar Sprint Car
Nationals" at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C.

Ironically, it was the 4/10-mile dirt Charlotte oval which
produced Jones' initial USAC National feature victory a year ago. A victory
this year would give Jones four consecutive wins in the series. Rick Hood
was the last to win four straight, in 1985, while Larry Dickson set the
record of six straight in 1968.

Jones led the final five laps of Friday's 20-lap prelim at
Terre Haute and the final 13 of Saturday's 30-lapper at the 1/2-mile dirt
oval. In Saturday's "Tony Hulman Fall Harvest Classic" main event he and
his Lucas Oil/Karavan Trailer Maxim/Gaerte were trailed by Jon Stanbrough,
Bryan Clauson, Mat Neely and Bud Kaeding. On Friday, Neely led 15 laps and
finished second ahead of Clauson, Stanbrough and Jerry Coons Jr.

Darland finished seventh and sixth respectively in the two
Terre Haute features, while defending series champion Jay Drake, third in
the standings, was 16th and 13th in the two races.
