Greater New York Area Residents to Explore Auto Careers at Automotive Career Fair in Whitestone, Queens

Thursday, October 27th - 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

NEW YORK, Oct. 3 -- Job seekers will converge on the all-new Center for Automotive Education & Training, at 15-30 Petracca Place, Whitestone, Queens on Thursday, October 27th to learn about rapidly expanding career opportunities in auto dealerships. The event, organized by the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association (GNYADA) is part of the nationwide Automotive Career Education Week, October 24-29.

Job seekers will see first-hand how the dealership business operates in all areas, including sales, service and finance. During the day, they will have an opportunity to interact directly with industry experts, learn about jobs at dealerships, leave copies of resumes, and collect information about the industry.

"Many people are surprised to learn that dealerships offer such a wide variety of outstanding career opportunities," said Mark Schienberg, GNYADA President. "We're thrilled to have a chance to share our experiences with people of all ages, and we hope that many will end up strongly considering careers in our industry."

Today's auto dealership careers are expanding and more cutting-edge than ever. With new vehicles holding more computing power than the Apollo moon launch and dealership businesses growing, dynamic positions with high-income potential can be found in such fields as:

  * Parts Department                   * Data Processing
  * Accounting and Bookkeeping         * Internet Sales & Services

Job seekers will be able to talk to industry experts and representatives from car manufacturers, dealers and suppliers who will be on hand to talk about the countless career opportunities available in the retail automotive industry.

The Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association, founded in 1910 and based in Whitestone, Queens, represents approximately 650 franchised new car and truck dealers in the metro area of New York, selling more than 700,000 cars each year. GNYADA organizes the New York International Automobile Show- the largest auto show in North America-each spring in Manhattan's Jacob Javits Convention Center.

Driving Directions:

From Long Island: Travel east on LIE, Southern State or Northern State Parkway to Cross Island Parkway North (becomes Whitestone Expressway), exit at 20th Avenue (Exit 15). Go to traffic light and make a right turn onto 20th Avenue -- proceed one block to next traffic light and make a right turn onto Petracca Place -- go to end of street.

From Westchester: Travel south on the Hutchinson River Parkway to the Whitestone Bridge to the Whitestone Expressway, exit at 20th Avenue (second exit over bridge) continue on the service road to traffic light and make a right turn onto 20th Avenue -- proceed one block to next traffic light and make a right turn onto Petracca Place -- go to end of street.

From New York City: Travel east on the Grand Central Parkway or LIE to Whitestone Expressway, follow signs to the Whitestone Bridge, exit before bridge at 20th Avenue (Exit 15) go to traffic light and make a left turn onto 20th Avenue (cross over Expressway). At the second traffic light, make a right turn onto Petracca Place -- go to end of street.

From New Jersey: Take the George Washington Bridge to the Cross Bronx Expressway, follow signs to the Whitestone Bridge to the Whitestone Expressway. Exit at 20th Avenue (second exit over bridge) continue on the service road to traffic light and make a right turn onto 20th Avenue -- proceed one block to next traffic light and make a right turn onto Petracca Place -- go to end of street.
