Rideshare Week Kickoff Event

--You're invited to attend an MSRC media event to kick off the promotion of Rideshare Week.

The event will be a photo/video opportunity graphically demonstrating the benefits of ridesharing, particularly the money that commuters can put back in their pockets instead of their gas tank. A single person ridesharing one day each week for a year would save as much as 125 gallons of gas.

The event ties into the ongoing "Pick A Day, Any Day" consumer communication program and marks the launch of Rideshare Week, which begins Oct. 3, 2005 and includes a consumer sweepstakes.

Top Southern California traffic reporters will be in attendance, along with local elected officials and other dignitaries.

When:

Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at 10:30 a.m.

Where:

On the top level of the The Grove parking structure. Enter the structure from The Grove Drive off 3rd Street or Farmers Market Place off Fairfax. Park on Level 7 and take the elevator (between area 7A and 7C) up one floor.

"Pick A Day, Any Day" is a public awareness program sponsored by the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC), which encourages commuters to pick a day each week to Rideshare.

About the MSRC:

The Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC) was formed in 1990 when Assembly Bill AB 2766 was signed into law authorizing a $4 motor vehicle registration fee in the four-county South Coast Air Basin. Thirty percent of the $4 fee or approximately $12 million annually is used for programs administered by the MSRC. All of the programs eligible for funding must reduce air pollution from mobile sources.
