Austin, Coolidge Take Inaugural Wins at Top Gun

	FALLON, Nev. - Mike Austin in Top Alcohol Dragster and Hank
Coolidge in Top Alcohol Funny Car took home the trophies at this
weekend's Inaugural NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at Top Gun
Raceway.
	Austin of Medford, Ore., ran 5.774 seconds at 250.27 mph in the
final round to take out Eric Morris of Sanger, Calif., after knocking
off Steve Federlin in a semi-final match up. Morris clocked in at 5.969
seconds, 232.01 mph in his first final round appearance. 
This is Austin's second win, picking up his first in Acton, Mont., last
month at Intermountain Motorsports Park. The win moves Austin into third
place in the Pacific Division Top Alcohol Dragster class.
	Coolidge went from No. 1 qualifier to the winner's circle with a
victory over Bucky Austin running 6.124 seconds at 238.40 mph. The
Sunburst, Mont., racer beat Doug Gordon in the semi's recording the low
elapsed time of the event in funny car with a 6.033 second pass.	
Coolidge's win is the first of his career after being close several
times. He has been runner up twice in Acton.
	Clint Sallee won in Comp Eliminator over Tony Stephenson of
Willow Springs, N.C. with a lap of 6.969 seconds at 193.37 mph.
Stephenson left early causing a red-light foul giving the win to Sallee.
	Chuck Rayburn won in Super Stock over Marv Choudeck Jr. running
9.514 at 138.51 mph while Dale Howard beat fellow Las Vegas racer Errol
Farmer in Stock Eliminator. 
	In the super categories, Charlie Stark held off Greg Boutte in
Super Comp, Ed Olpin out ran Randy Cloud in Super Gas, and Joe Greco won
over Charlie Smith in Super Street.
	Will Harrison took the TEAM Superstores Top Comp trophy with a
7.850 second pass at 167.41 over Les Figueroa and George Prather of
Sacramento, Calif., won in Korbel Super Eliminator.
	Brittany and Courtney Force made their NHRA Lucas Oil Drag
Racing Series debuts this weekend. The daughters of 13-time NHRA Funny
Car National Champion John Force competed in Super Comp with Brittany
grabbing two round wins before loosing to Tom Bayer in round three.
Courtney hurt her car's motor in her final time trial on Saturday and
was not able to make first round.
Winner's in this weekend's KD Kanopy Super Session were Robert Naber in
Super Comp, Diana Anderson in Super Gas, Chet Vanderwater in Super
Street, and Carolyn Hills in Korbel Super Eliminator. 
The Pacific Division racers head to California Dragway next week for the
next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event.
