Will and Coolidge on Top at Top Gun

	FALLON, Nev. - Hillary Will grabbed the top qualifying spot by
twenty-three one thousandths of a second in her Girl Power Top Alcohol
Dragster. Will ran her best of three qualifying pass in the last session
coving the quarter-mile in 5.705 seconds at 254.69 mph, both of which
are new Top Gun Raceway records.
	Will is followed by Oregon racer Steve Federlin who leads Will
and the rest of the class in the chase for the national championship.
Federlin qualified No. 2 with a 5.728 at 248.67 mph followed by Mike
Austin in third at 5.792 seconds, 247.97 mph.
	In a late entry, Pacific Division points leader Chris Demke
returned to action after suffering a crash and injury at the Pacific
Division Lucas Oil Series event at Infineon Raceway back in July. Demke
is holding a slight lead in the division and looks to pick up additional
points and retain his lead over Bob Perkins who is second in points and
qualified eighth this weekend. Demke qualified fifth with a 6.293
second, 198.90 mph pass.
	Hank Coolidge surprised the Top Alcohol Funny Car field to the
delight of the crowd running a 6.134 second pass for the pole position
at 237.56 mph. This is only the second Lucas Oil Divisional event for
the Montana racer this year after finishing fourth in the Northwest
Division last year.
	Coolidge is followed by Bucky Austin in the No. 2 position with
a 6.213 second lap at 234.16 mph run and Brian Hough in third at 6.220
seconds, 237.19 mph.
	Colt Mikel jumped to the top in Comp Eliminator with a pass of
8.674 seconds, 0.636 seconds under the index with Clint Sallee in second
at 6.978, 0.612 seconds under and brother Daniel Mikel in third at 8.718
seconds, 0.592 seconds under.
	California runner Ryan McClanahan leads the Super Stock field
with a 10.215 second run, 1.245 seconds under and is followed by Chuck
Rayburn. Reno resident Brad Rounds is eleventh in the twenty-one car
field.
In Stock Eliminator Don Wann held onto the No. 1 spot while Shawn Cowie
leads Top Comp running 6.803 seconds at 200.09 mph.
	Colt Mikel, McClanahan, and Wann all picked up the Hughes
Performance Low Qualifier Award for their efforts.
Racing continues Sunday at 9:00 with round one of Top Alcohol Dragster
and Funny Car set for 12 noon.  Gates open at 8 a.m. Tickets are $20.
