Autosport Development - Portland Wrap-Up

#5 GMAC Commercial Finance / Trenton Forging GTO Finishes 6th

Portland, Oregon -- July 31 Stu Hayner and the Autosport Development
team were very pleased with a 6th place finish in today’s round 8 of
the SCCA Pro SPEED World Challenge GT race in Portland, Oregon.
Driving the second Autosport Development GTO, Steve MacDonald
finished 17th. The race was held in conjunction with the American Le
Mans Series weekend at the historic Portland International Raceway.

“After our 11th place finish here in 2004, we’re ecstatic with
today’s results,” said Hayner following the race. “We knew going in
what we had, Our plan was to go out and run a steady pace and try to
keep the lead pack in sight. More importantly, we knew it was
important to go easy on the car and make sure we had enough left at
the end.”

The proof in the pudding was Hayner’s last lap pass on the #3 Viper.

“I had settled into a steady pace and had been following the #3 car
for a good part of the race,” Hayner continued. “We were both getting
through traffic pretty good and I was content to wait for the
opportunity to pass. Well, on the last lap, the opportunity presented
itself and we had enough car left to make it stick. We were door to
door for a bit, but ultimately, the GMAC Commercial Finance GTO
prevailed. In the end, it simply came down to having a good car for a
deceivingly tough track.”

Today’s 6th place finish moves Hayner to 7th position in the Drivers’
Championship Points

Driving the #7 Autosport Development GTO for Envision Telephony,
Steve MacDonald of Woodinville, Washington finished his day in 17th.

“Not the top-10 finish I had fantasized about,” acknowledged Steve.
“But I sure had a great time. The track got pretty slick by mid-race
and at one point the #10 car (Mustang) had an off and caused a little
excitement in front of me. I’m not sure what happened, but it was all
I could do to keep the car underneath me.”

“This was a terrific experience,” Steve added. “I had a great car and
was part of a first class team, they made me feel right at home. And,
driving a World Challenge GT car was everything I’d hoped for and
more. I can’t wait to do it again.”

Jim Osborn and Chili Pepper Racing for Remote Area Medical are slated
to return to the #7 GTO for round 9 in Denver, August 12-14.

The SPEED World Challenge GT will air Sunday August 7th at 3pm EDT on
SPEED. The Touring Car race ran Saturday at 1:00pm PDT and will air
