RACING UNDERWAY FOR O'REILLY JR. DRAG RACING AT BANDIMERE

	MORRISON, Colo. - Over 500 NHRA Jr. Drag Racers took to the
track today at Bandimere Speedway for opening day time trials of the
NHRA O'Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League Western Conference
Finals. 
	Converging on the Denver area from 40 NHRA Member Tracks in 16
different states, the competitors range in age from 8 - 17 years old and
are racing for both team and individual honors as well as their share of
the $98,000 event purse and most importantly, bragging rights for the
year.
	Last year's winner's include A.J. Fernandez of Harbor City,
Calif.; Katelyn Whynaught of Oceanside, Calif.; Cameron Fulfer of
Weatherford, Texas; Garrett Speck of Fort Worth, Texas; Brittny Blakely,
N.M.; David Dean of Waxhaw, N.C.; Katrina Billings of Kansas City,; and
Todd Cooper of Yuba City, Calif. Last year's Team Champions were
California Dragway in Fontana, Calif.
	Most of the families arrived last weekend as Bandimere Speedway
hosted several additional events leading up to this weekend's NHRA
O'Reilly Auto Parts event. Monday's event was a test & tune for all
competitors followed by the JR Race Car Mile High Shootout for racers
8-12 on Tuesday and a shootout on Wednesday for the 13-17 year olds.
	Racers return to the track on Friday for one final time trial
followed by round 1 of eliminations Friday afternoon. Gates open at 7
a.m. with racing set to begin at 8 a.m. For additional information and
