NTT-Resonant, MRI Conduct Web-based Research on Hybrid Car

Tokyo (JCNN) - NTT-Resonant and Mitsubishi Research Institute jointly conducted an online survey of 2,255 employees of companies, organizations, and government offices on hybrid cars.

Hybrid cars are socially recognized, as 99.2% of the respondents know them. However, only 10.0% have introduced them as their office vehicles.

Of such respondents, 59.0% said that they have introduced hybrid cars for ecological reasons, although the substantial number (35.5%) do not know how many hybrid cars have been introduced, an indication that hybrid cars have not been so effective in raising employees' eco-consciousness.

When asked about cost reduction, 28.3% ascribed the introduction of hybrid cars to energy costs. However, 65.7% of those thinking about purchasing hybrid cars said that cost reduction is the motivation to buy hybrid cars.
