Alamo Rental Offers Customers Online Check-in

TULSA, Okla., July 5 -- Alamo Rent A Car announced today that it had launched Online Check-in at Alamo.com. An industry first, Online Check-In(SM) lets any Alamo customer bypass the rental counter, go straight to their car and head for the exit, regardless of how the reservation was made -- online at Alamo.com, through an online travel agent, or through Alamo's telephone reservation center.

"Alamo's Online Check-in is a huge step forward for families on vacation," said Alamo's chief marketing officer, Jerry Dow. "After all, who wants to stand in line at a rental counter? With Alamo's Online Check-in, our customers can skip the line wait, get the kids in the car, and get on the road faster."

Dow said traffic is up substantially at Alamo.com, where customers find Alamo's best rates always -- guaranteed, but Online Check-in is not limited to those customers making a reservation at Alamo.com.

"Alamo's Online Check-in is available to any Alamo customer, no matter which channel they may have used to make their reservation," said Dow. "It's really about offering Alamo customers an even better rental experience."

Dow said he expects Alamo's Online Check-in to be well-received this summer, as travel continues to rebound and families spend more time on the road.

Online Check-in is available at most major U.S. travel destinations, and allows the customer to go right to the vehicle. Vehicles at these locations are physically grouped by category, and the keys are in the ignition. So, once an Online Check-in customer arrives at the Alamo location, they can simply go to the vehicle they want and head straight for the exit booth.

Alamo's Online Check-in is a simple process. After the customer makes a reservation, the customer is asked to provide driver's license information, verify their options and provide payment information. Once complete, they print the rental agreement to bring with them.

"That's it," said Dow. "It's simple, fast and gives the customer more control."

Online Check-in is another first for Alamo, which also launched the industry's first real-time internet booking engine 10 years ago in June -- and a full year before the major online travel agents -- allowing customers to find a location, view rates and reserve their vehicle.
